"I've been blogging about my yo-yo weight loss for over 2 years now. Lose 10, gain 8, tummy flat with hip bones showing, old cat stomach again. Vanity was the push but things have changed. I had a bit of a health scare this month. Two weeks of testing for the big C, I was in a holding pattern until everything came back ok. Still in shock.
"How much of life is wasted in waiting?" - a good quote from Emerson that's taped to my wall. Life is meant to be fun. Exciting. I have this lonnggg and slightly overwhelming bucket list that's been taped to my wall for what? 3 years. It's time to do these things. Thinking I had only a short while left, there was so much I didn't do, people I didn't hug, things left unsaid. Life is too important to be selling fancy creams to rich women, watching friends have the adventures I dream of.
So I'm leaving Austin in May to start traveling."
That was written over two years ago. Many things happened since then: I've had some adventures, gotten over deep fears, fallen in and out of love, traveled around Central America, started a business, lived in Hawaii, traveled around Europe, learned how to cook in France & Itlay, and have come full circle back to DC. For a while anyway.
I was quite healthy in Hawaii, how could you not be surfing all the time? Europe's cream sauces and pasta did a number on my body and now that I've learned to make the perfect gnocchi, I will be fit again.
